“I am a single 53 yr old female, a sole proprietor of a hair and nail studio for 33 years in the small community of Hiwasse Arkansas. I earn a less than modest income in my trade and I’ve managed to sustain a simple life although balancing on the cusp of maintaining/ loss is always lingering in my mind and Covid wiped me out. I have a little land I purchased in 1988 with a little house I built myself, where I raised my daughter and grow a little food. My home and business are all I have. The assistance I received in March of 2022 saved my home and spirit. The uncertainty stemming from the pandemic, the loss of income, uncontrollable inflation along with the social dynamics affecting business trade created a sense of helplessness a situation I just couldn’t fix myself. The Arkansas Homeowner Assistance Fund is administered by the Arkansas Development Finance Authority.
